HORNICK, Iowa (KTIV) – In spite of the rain on Thursday, volunteers worked to help one Hornick, Iowa woman.

The Evangelical Covenant Church from Sloan, Iowa, and MERGE Ministries teamed up with Hornick to repair some of the damage caused by flooding in March.

MERGE Ministries partners with churches to help people who are in need.

Volunteers from Kansas, Chicago, and Nebraska are part of that team and have begun water damage restoration and cleanup in the woman’s home.

“Now you mention Hornick and say oh yeah that’s where they had the flooding like its a past tense type of thing for now but we realize that that relief is going to go on for months and maybe even years and so we want the folks in Hornick that we are still standing with them, we are still Hornick strong,” said Pastor Richard Moore.

The volunteers say they are proud of the work they do, and hope to help as many people as they can during their time in town.
