Hornick mayor receives check to assist with road recovery

SLOAN, Iowa (KTIV) –  The Sloan State bank presented Hornick, Iowa, Mayor Scott Mitchell with a check for $10,000 to help with road repairs following recent flooding on Wednesday.

Mitchell says everything on the east side of town suffered the worst flood damage.

He says this money will help get streets back into shape.

Mitchell also says Hornick has been doing it’s best to make progress on restoring the roads, but found an obstacle with the cost of repairs.

“It means a lot to the city. The city has incurred a lot of expense with this flooding and there’s a lot to come. This is going to help quite a bit to fixing the roads and to bringing them back a little bit better than they are right now and it’s going to go a long ways,” said Mayor Mitchell.

Mitchell says he hopes to have the repairs complete in early 2020.
