EARLY, Iowa (KTIV) – Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley held a town hall meeting Monday morning in Sac County.
The town hall which held in Early, Iowa, was open to the public to hear from Grassley and to voice their opinions and ask questions.
This meeting is part of his 39th annual 99 county tour.
Health care, the economy, farm income, and gun control were among the topics he addressed during the session with constituents.
The newly named President Pro-Tem also weighed in on the weekend mass shootings offering condolences to the victim’s families.
“I do think that the tragedy that occurred is monumental from the loss of life, and it is just tragic and we obviously express our condolences to those family members that lost loved ones and those that are injured now, and hopefully we will be able to get on top of it,” said Grassley.
Grassley added the top priority should be more mental health services and limiting the sale of firearms to those with documented mental health issues.
“Whatever we can do dealing with mental health issues and getting people in the database so that they cannot buy guns if they have mental health issues ought to be our top priority,” said Grassley.
Tuesday he’ll host a town hall meeting at the community center in Aurelia at 11:45 a.m.
