SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Candidates continue to criss-cross Iowa with less than six months to go until the Iowa Caucuses.
Wednesday, Democratic Presidential Candidate Kirsten Gillibrand spoke to supporters at the “Key Club” on Sioux City’s Historic 4th Street. She spoke on a number of topics including Social Security reform, and Alzheimer’s research.
But, following the mass shootings in Texas, and Ohio, over the weekend, Gillibrand fielded several questions about gun reform. Gillibrand, who represents New York in the U.S. Senate, says Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell should call the Senate back into session and take action on several key areas. “Have universal background checks, ban large magazines and assault weapons, have a federal anti-gun trafficking law. Those are the things we know will work and would help.” said Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Democratic Presidential Candidate.
The U.S. Senate is in recess until after Labor Day.
