Harris calls on McConnell to call Senate back to Washington to deal with gun legislation

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (CNN) – U.S. Senator Kamala Harris addressed gun control legislation during a campaign stop in Sioux City, Thursday.

Thursday, Harris kicked off a five-day, cross-state bus tour in Sioux City.

The California Senator says, in the wake of the shootings in El Paso and Dayton, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell should call the Senate back into session to address two gun reform bills that have already passed the U.S. House.

Right now, Congress is in recess until after Labor Day. “I think he needs to put the bill on the floor for a vote and call all of us back to Washington, D.C. to vote on it right away,” said Sen. Kamala Harris, (D) Presidential Candidate. “He doesn’t wanna call people back, but he says he will make it front and center,” said a CNN correspondent. “Well, I think on this we need to judge people by their conduct not their words,” Harris said.

Harris’s bus tour continues in Des Moines on Friday.
