Fire engulfs home in Norfolk, Nebraska

NORFOLK, Nebraska (KTIV) – No one was hurt Friday afternoon after a house fire in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Officials say around 4:30 p.m. the Norfolk Fire Division was dispatched to the 2200 block of Western Circle for a house on fire.

The first units to arrive saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the house.

Crews also encountered heavy fire in the rear of the home that had self vented through the roof.

It took approximately 30 firefighters about an hour to control the fire and another hour to overhaul the structure.

The homeowners were home at the time of the fire and were able to evacuate safely.

The property is a total loss and is estimated to be worth about $250,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
