South Dakota authorities search for missing prison inmate

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KTIV) – Authorities are searching for an inmate that escaped from the South Dakota State Penitentiary, in Sioux Falls.

Inmate Nathan Chase walked away from the Sioux Falls Community Work Center shortly before 5:00pm, Monday night. The work center is located outside the perimeter fence of the penitentiary, and is designed for minimum-security inmates on work release and community service status.

Chase is a 38-year-old white male, standing 5-feet 6-inches tall, and weighing 250 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing an orange prison t-shirt, and brown khaki pants.

He’s serving a two-year sentence for failure to appear out of Lyman County, South Dakota.
