Explorers drop series opener with Kansas City

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – The Sioux City Explorers dropped the series opener with Kansas City 6-3 on Sunday. It’s the fourth straight loss for the Explorers.

Kansas City got out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. A bases loaded walk, a fielders choice and an RBI single later, the T-Bones had a 3-0 lead.

Sioux City got a run back in the bottom of the first. Nate Samson singled to left field scoring Kyle Wren cutting the lead to 3-1.

The T-Bones added to the lead in the second inning. Will Baker singled to right field. A run scored giving Kansas City a 4-1 lead.

Sioux City scored a run in the sixth and seventh innings to get within a run. But Kansas City added two in the eighth inning to seal a 6-3 win.

Game two of the series is Monday at 7:12 pm at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park.
