Explorers score twice in ninth inning to top T-Bones

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) — Sioux City scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat Kansas City 3-2 on Tuesday night. The win moved the X’s into the wild card lead in the South Division. Sioux City leads the T-Bones for the final playoff spot by a half game with 13 games left in the American Association season.

Jeremy Hazelbaker drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single in the first inning to bring in Nate Samson for a 1-0 Sioux City lead.

X’s starter Carlos Sierra pitched five scoreless innings but ran into trouble in the sixth. Chris Colabello singled to drive in the game tying run. The T-Bones took a 2-1 lead in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Christian Correa.

In the ninth, Sebastian Zawada’s single scored Joel Davis to tie the game at 2-2. Dylan Kelly then singled to center to bring Justin Felix home with the game-winning run.

First place Cleburne comes to Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park to start a three-game series on Wednesday night at 7:12.
