Around Siouxland: Westside, Iowa’s sesquicentennial celebration

(KTIV) – The town of Westside, Iowa, is celebrating its 150 birthday.

The town’s sesquicentennial celebration starts Friday, August 23 and goes until Sunday, August 25.

The event kicks-off with reunion night on Friday where people can tour the local school and meet with friends, family and classmates.

On Saturday there’ll be activities throughout the day including The Big Parade at 10:30 a.m., a performance by Brad Morgan on the Main Street Stage starting at 6:00 p.m. and a fireworks to end the day at 10:00 p.m.

Then on Sunday there’ll be a tractor ride starting at 8:30 a.m. followed by a community chicken dinner from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Throughout the afternoon there’ll also be a sanctioned tractor pull that goes from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
