SIOUX FALLS, SD (KTIV) — The Sioux City Explorers stayed in the wild card lead with a 14-4 win at Sioux Falls on Tuesday. Sioux City scored six runs in the ninth inning to pull away. The X’s still lead Kansas City by a game for the wild card, and pull to within a game of first place Cleburne, who was off on Tuesday.
Sioux City (54-40) scored two runs in the first inning. Sioux Falls took a 3-2 lead after three innings, before the X’s answered with three runs in the top of the fourth to take the lead for good.
Seven of the nine Explorer batters had RBI’s. Nate Samson and Sebastian Zawada had 3 RBI’s and Adam Sasser drove in a pair of runs for Sioux City. Taylor Jordan got the win on the mound, going 7 2/3 innings.
Game two of the three game series is Wednesday at 7:05.
