X’s slam Sioux Falls to stay hot

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota (KTIV) — The Sioux City Explorers won for the ninth time in ten games, beating Sioux Falls 9-1 on Wednesday night.

The X’s scored six runs in the first inning. First baseman Adam Sasser provided the big blow with a grand slam home run. Sioux City scored two more runs in the fourth. Drew Stankiewicz had an RBI double and then scored on an RBI groundout by Jeremy Hazelbaker, who also homered in the ninth.

Pete Tago pitched six strong innings for the X’s to get the victory. The former Colorado Rockies first round draft choice struck out nine while only allowing five hits and one run.

The three game series ends Thursday in Sioux Falls. The X’s (55-40) close the season with four games in Kansas City, starting on Friday.
