SIOUX CITY (KTIV) — In their first 22 seasons, the Explorers made the playoffs four times. By clinching the wild card on Monday, Sioux City has been in the postseason four times in the last five years. The X’s will start the playoffs against Kansas City on Wednesday.
Sioux City will host games one and two, before the five-game series moves to K.C. for game three. The X’s were 7-6 against the T-Bones in the regular season. Sioux City lost three straight in KC over the weekend, and had to win Monday to make the playoffs.
The X’s have basically been in playoff mode for the last two weeks.
“You had three games that pretty much you were walked off in three in a row,” said manager Steve Montgomery. “We’re just fortunate that we got a little help by some other teams in the league. We held our own destiny still after three straight walk-offs. It was a relief. The guys deserve it. They’ve worked hard all year.”
Games 1 and 2 are at Lewis & Clark Park on Wednesday and Thursday at 7:12 pm. Game 3 is Saturday in Kansas City at 7:05.
