Storm Lake, IA voters approve $15-million school bond issue

STORM LAKE, Iowa (KTIV) – In Buena Vista County, voters have approved a $15-million bond issue.

Voters in the Storm Lake Community School District accepted the measure in a vote of 1,052 (61.16%) to 668 (38.84%). The measure needed 60-percent approval to pass.

The funds will pay for construction of a new public elementary school on 16 acres of district-owned land.

It is a three-phase project that totals $23-million dollars

$14.98 million will come from the bond that taxpayers approved.

The bond will raise property taxes by $85 per year, per $100,000 of valuation.
