SIOUX CITY (KTIV) –  Bishop Heelan art students have been busy making the sidewalks of Sioux City more colorful.

On Monday Bishop Heelan art students launched a collaboration with Downtown Partners Sioux City.

A group of 15 students painted artistic designs onto metal pipes in front of seven different downtown locations.

The new art designs are featured in front of places like Doxx Warehouse, and Evolve Yoga and Wellness.

City leaders say the purpose of this project is to foster creativity within the city of Sioux City by redefining everyday objects.

While this is the first ever Downtown Street Art Project Bishop Heelan has done with Downtown Partners, the art students were also a part of the outdoor “Welcome to Sioux City” mural completed last year near 3rd Street and Wesley Parkway.

The project was done under the guidance of Laurie Dougherty.
