Storm Lake Police search vehicle of man suspected of making death threats

STORM LAKE, Iowa (KTIV) – Storm Lake Police arrested 36-year-old Adam Ferrin of Storm Lake, Iowa, on September 12 for allegedly sending death threats via text messages.

After his arrest, police report they obtained and executed a search warrant on his impounded vehicle on September 13.

Police allege that during their search of Ferrin’s vehicle they located and seized a cellular phone, half-a-pound of marijuana, six packages of methamphetamine, other substances believed to be controlled substances, a variety of drug paraphernalia and a scale.

In addition police located and seized two large knives with blades approximately eight inches in length which were found near the driver’s seat in the vehicle.

Ferrin was originally arrested on Thursday after the SLPD took a report of harassment and death threats.

At approximately 7:50 a.m. police were advised by two reporting parties that in one case they had allegedly received harassing text messages and in a second case they received text messages allegedly stating they were going to be killed.

Police allege the text messages were sent by Ferrin and during the course of the investigation the SLPD collect information that led them to believe the death threat may be credible.

Police initiated a search for Ferrin and put out an area broadcast to law enforcement to be on the lookout for him.

On Thursday at approximately 2:15 p.m. a Storm Lake Police Officer observed Ferrin driving a vehicle on West Milwaukee Avenue.

Officers converged on Ferrin and stopped his vehicle at the intersection of Northwestern Drive and Hyland Drive where he was taken into custody without incident.

On Thursday, the SLPD charged Ferrin with Harassment 1st Deggree, and Harassment 3rd Degree.

After the search on Friday the SLPD additionally charged Ferrin with Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine With Intent to Deliver, Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance Marijuana, two counts of Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, Carrying Weapons and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

In addition, police determined Ferrin was wanted out of Buena Vista County on a warrant charging him with Failure to Appear in Court in reference of a Controlled Substance Violation.

Storm Lake Police said Ferrin remains held in the Buena Vista County Jail on a $9,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
