Melania Trump praises removal of e-cigarettes from stores

WASHINGTON (AP) — Melania Trump says she’s glad to see some stores pulling electronic cigarettes off the shelves amid an explosion in vaping among young people.

She calls it an important step to help protect the next generation from what she says are the dangers of vaping.

Mrs. Trump spoke Wednesday at a White House “listening session” where teenagers told her about their experiences using e-cigarettes.

A 16-year-old North Carolina boy said he quit after suffering a seizure his family thinks was related to vaping. He was sent across the country to rehab. An 18-year-old Texas girl said friends told her vaping would calm her down, but it caused even worse panic attacks.

President Donald Trump recently announced that the government will act to make e-cigarettes less enticing to young people.
