South Sioux City non-profit participating in ‘Domestic Violence Awareness’ month

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) – A non-profit organization in South Sioux City, Nebraska, is spreading awareness about domestic violence this month, which is also “Domestic Violence Awareness” month.

Haven House offers intervention and prevention services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The organization sees men and women of all ages.

The executive director of Haven House says its mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for survivors.

She says, across the nation, 1 in 3 women, and 1 in 7 men are survivors of domestic violence.

“So Haven House serves about 360 clients a year, we have also a crisis line, and we serve about 1,100 people with our crisis line, so it is pretty prevalent we are very busy, said Amy Munderloh, Haven House Executive Director.

Haven House has seven staff members, who are case managers for clients and advocate for them in the criminal justice system.
