MMCRU football player gets one final carry

MARCUS, Iowa (KTIV) — After seven weeks of high school football, there are still 27 undefeated teams left in Iowa. There are also 29 teams that haven’t won a game yet. MMCRU is included in that latter group, but they are still creating some great moments.

Gunnar Johnson, a freshman for MMCRU, suffered a career-ending shoulder injury on the last play of a game in week six. Last Friday, the MMCRU and Hinton coaches agreed to give him one last carry.

His coaches say Johnson was a special athlete, he also played basketball and baseball. Johnson will need complete reconstructive surgery on his shoulder. Just a reminder that the final scores don’t always tell the entire story.
