What’s Cookin’?: Homemade Gyro
Ingredients:
- For the Meat Mixture
- 1 pound ground lamb (or beef)
- 1/4 cup red onion (minced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- For the Sandwich
- 4 rounds flatbread (or pita)
- 1 leaf of lettuce
- 1 tomato (sliced)
- 1 onion (sliced)
- Tzatziki sauce
- 2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 cucumber
- 2-3 cloves of garlic or ¼ tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tablespoon salt
- 1/4 tablespoon white pepper
- 5 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 tablespoon lemon juice
