What’s Cookin’?: Homemade Gyro

Ingredients:

  • For the Meat Mixture
    • 1 pound ground lamb (or beef)
    • 1/4 cup red onion (minced)
    • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
    • 2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 1/2 teaspoon cumin
    • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
    • 2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • For the Sandwich
    • 4 rounds flatbread (or pita)
    • 1 leaf of lettuce
    • 1 tomato (sliced)
    • 1 onion (sliced)
  • Tzatziki sauce
    • 2 cup sour cream
    • 1 cup plain yogurt
    • 1 cucumber
    • 2-3 cloves of garlic or ¼ tsp garlic powder
    • 1/2 tablespoon salt
    • 1/4 tablespoon white pepper
    • 5 tablespoon olive oil
    • 4 tablespoon lemon juice
