SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Students from Morningside College are raising awareness about sex trafficking for 24-hours straight.
The students, who are in the human rights political science class at Morningside, are taking part in “Stand Against Sex Trafficking”.
They will be outside of the college for one whole day.
They started at Noon, Wednesday.
The money raised from t-shirt and other sales will benefit Lila Mae’s House, a transitional living center in Sioux City that will help survivors of human trafficking.
“While you may think you dont know know someone or you may not know someone who has been sex trafficked they could be around you, they could be next to you at the mall, or next to you on the bus, so just helping bring awareness and showing people what you can do especially in the community,” said Sam Peterson, Student.
The students say their goal is to raise more money than they did last year.
As of 2 pm Wednesday, the students had raised about $250.
