Former Muskie and NHL PLAYER, Tommy Olczyk, speaks to players

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) –  It is the time of year again where UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s and the Sioux City Musketeers team up to “Cross Check Cancer”.

Saturday morning, the team had a special guest come and speak to them.

Tommy Olczyk, former Musketeers player and NHL player was back at the Tyson Events Center.

His father, Eddie, Olczyk, current announcer for the NHL on NBC, and a Stanley Cup Champion is recently cancer-free after a battle with colon cancer.

Tommy talked to the players about the importance of these kinds of games, being a good teammate, and leadership.

“What happened with my father was obviously terrible, and like I was telling the team, I’ll say until the day I die, true colors someone shows is not when times are good, not when things are going great, but when times are tough,” said former Musketeers and NHL player, Tommy Olczyk.

The puck drops at Saturday night’s 7:05 at the Tyson Events Center.

The players will be wearing purple jerseys and the rink will be lavender.
