Briar Cliff women win season opener

MADISON, South Dakota (KTIV) — The Briar Cliff women won their season opener on Monday beating Dakota State, 85-73.

The Chargers had four players in double figures. Senior Alyssa Carley and center Madelyn Deitchler each led the way with 18 points. Carley also had a team-high ten rebounds. Freshman Konnor Sudmann added 16 points and Jadyn Bussinger had 10.

Briar Cliff led by as many as ten points in the first half. Carley’s basket just before the buzzer gave the Chargers a 48-46 lead at the break. BCU shot just 30 percent in the second half but held the Trojans to just eight field goals after halftime.

Briar Cliff will play their home opener against #17 Saint Xavier on Friday at 7:30 at the Newman Flanagan Center in Sioux City.
