What’s Cookin’?: Scarecrow Cake

Scarecrow cake

  • Ingredients:
    • 1 box of your favorite cake mix
    • 1 container of vanilla frosting
    • 1 Tbsp. chocolate-flavored syrup
    • 1 box (4 oz.) of waffle ice cream bowls
    • 1 box (4.5 oz.) of chewy fruit snack rolls
  • Directions:
    1. Prepare cake according to instructions bake in a bundt cake pan. Let cool.
    2. Place cake on a serving plate. Stir together the frosting and chocolate syrup. Reserve 1/4 cup of the frosting.
    3. Spread remaining frosting over the cake.
    4. For straw hat, place 1 waffle bowl upside down in the center of the cake. Stack 5 more on top.
    5. For the hair, cut fruit snacks into 14 (6 inch) strips and 14 (5 inch) strips.
    6. Press one 6-inch and one 5 inch strip together.
    7. Repeat with remaining strips.
    8. Randomly press pairs of the strips over top 2/3 of cake, overlapping if necessary.
    9. Place remaining frosting on the cake on the top.
    10. For the brim, break remaining waffle bowls into 5 or 6 pieces each.
    11. Randomly press pieces on top of the cake, creating a hat.
    12. Cut remaining pieces of fruit snacks for eyes and nose. Keep in the refrigerator until use.

Monster Mash Party Mix

  • Ingredients:
    • 10 cups of popped popcorn
    • 1 (16 oz.) bag of M&M’s
    • 1 (14 oz.) jar of dry-roasted peanuts
    • 1 cup of Reese’s Pieces
  • Directions:
    1. Mix together. Makes 15 cups
