Top-ranked Sgt. Bluff-Luton beat Carroll, 3-0, on Monday night to earn a trip to the Class 4A Iowa High School State Volleyball Tournament.
The Warriors won easily, 25-14, 25-12, 25-9, to improve to 34-3 on the season and prove why they’re ranked first in the state.
“Yeah, I felt like that a lot of times this season,” said Sgt. Bluff-Luton head coach Renee Winkel. “I feel like this game we finally proved it from start to finish. That was great to see, especially heading into the state tournament.”
“It was definitely fun coming out,” said senior Kenzie Foley. “We wanted to obviously kick some butt, show the state what’s up and go into the state tournament making teams want to fear playing us. That was kind of huge tonight for us.”
SBL got the top seed at state and will play 8th-seeded Glenwood (30-12) next Tuesday at 4 o’clock in Cedar Rapids.
Unity Christian swept Sheldon, 3-0, to earn a trip to the Class 3A state tournament, Monday in Orange City.
