Iowa State looks for another upset at Oklahoma

AMES, Iowa (KTIV) — There’s probably never a good time to play Oklahoma, if you’re Iowa State.
The Cyclones are 7-65-2 all-time against the Sooners. But ISU is coming off of a bye week as they travel to Norman on Saturday.

Two years ago, Iowa State won at O-U, 38-31, breaking an 18-game losing streak against the Sooners. The Cyclones are 5-3 this season after losing to Oklahoma State in their last game. The Sooners also had last week off after being upset at Kansas State.

Iowa State is a 14-point underdog on Saturday but the players think they’ll play well in a tough environment.

“We feel pretty confident right now going into this week,” said freshman guard Trevor Downing. “That being said, we got to have a good Tuesday, a good Wednesday, a good week of practice going into Oklahoma.”

“Definitely the bye week is a good time to reflect a little bit. You don’t have to actually game plan every second of the day,” said sophomore tight end Charlie Kolar. “It’s nice to get some time to reflect on the first eight games of the season, watch that film. It was nice to take a look at yourself again. That’s what the bye week is for.”

The Cyclones and Sooners kickoff at 7 o’clock on Saturday night.
