CEDAR COUNTY, Neb. (KTIV) – A Nebraska man has died from injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle accident in northeast Nebraska.
According to the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office, at about 5:20 p.m. Monday, a two-vehicle crash was reported at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 81 in Cedar County.
Authorities say an Eastbound Ford pickup truck driven by 86-year-old Jacob Keiter of Hartington Nebraska failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign. That’s when a southbound Ford pickup truck driven by 45-year-old Shane Pedersen of Pierce, Nebraska, collided with Keiter’s pickup in the intersection.
Keiter was transported to Avera Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota, and was later transferred to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
On November 5, Keiter died as a result of his injuries from the accident. Keiter was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. Pedersen was wearing his seatbelt.
The Cedar County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Crofton Fire Department and Crofton EMS.
