SIOUX CITY (KTIV)- A new gym is giving Bishop Heelan High School students and administrators another reason to have 'pride' in their school.
Tuesday, the school dedicated their new gym, the "O'Gorman Fieldhouse."
The new gym has 1,600 seats, air-conditioning, 6 basketball hoops, coaches' offices, and more.
The name is in honor of Terry and Mary Lou O'Gorman- a former long-time Catholic school teacher.
One of their children, Mark, donated over $1.5 million to the gym and Heelan's PRIDE campaign.
"A word synonymous with Heelan is 'pride,' a lot of pride today," said Tom Betz, Director of Advancement for Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools. "Just because of the dedication and perseverance of our Heelan family to see this complete project through. From the fine arts building to the academic wing, and now the gymnasium."
Betz's son will actually be coaching the first official game to be played in the new gym-- as the boy's basketball team plays Treynor.
