The Woodbury County Sheriff's Office welcomes a brand-new member of its K-9 division. And a Sioux City man played a huge part in getting the new puppy here.

Titan is an 11-month-old Belgian Malinois, that will soon train as a K-9 unit for Woodbury County.

Sioux City native, Craig Wegner, donated nearly half the funds needed to get Titan. The State Farm Insurance agent says he has always wanted to give back to the community and decided this would be a great way to do so.

He met the pup for the first time today -- and was able to see what his contribution means for the department.

"A while back, I spoke with Captain Garret about the possibility of donating a K-9 dog to the Woodbury County Sheriffs Department. Several months back I met with him and kind of got things rolling. We always look for ways to give back to the community and thought this would be something different and benefit our law enforcement officers and I was excited to bring the dog out today so it was kind of a neat thing for us to see," said Wegner.

Wegner says after he was able to get at least half of the funds needed to get Titan, State Farm Corporate matched the amount.
