SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Construction could be happening at several Sioux City Community Schools in the near future.
At the school board meeting Monday, two big projects were discussed.
One centered around updates to the HVAC system at Riverside School.
The board approved the plan so bids now will be accepted from contractors for the update.
"So we are moving to phase 2 of the Riverside HVAC project. This is part of our goal of making sure that all of our buildings are air-conditioned in the very near future. And so phase 2 is the last step for Riverside. So once that is completed we'll have air conditioning out there." said Jeremy Saint, Sioux City Community School Board President.
The other major project is to repair the roofs of seven Sioux City Schools, following a hail storm more than two years ago.
The estimate on that project, which is covered by an insurance claim, came in under budget and was approved, so repairs will begin soon.
