SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A fire damaged a home on Sioux City's Westside early Friday.

It was reported shortly before 6 a.m. in the 2900 block of Isabella Street.

Investigators say the fire started on the stove in the kitchen and caused moderate smoke damage throughout the home.

The homeowner told fire crews he put some oil on the stove, then forgot about it and took his wife to work.

He came home and the kitchen was on fire.

His son was still asleep in his room.

Fortunately, everyone made it out of the home safely and without injury.

There were no working smoke detectors in the home.

Sioux City Fire Rescue would like to remind Sioux City residents if you need help installing or getting a smoke alarm they can help free of charge.
