What's Cookin' chefs Julie Schoenherr and Valerie Petersen join KTIV's Stella Daskalakis to show us how make some SoHo Chili

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup of chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup ground cumin
  • 1/4 cup Spanish paprika
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2-3 pounds ground beef, 90% lean
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil for sauteing
  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 2 green bell peppers
  • 1 large yellow or white onion
  • 1 14.5 oz can of red kidney beans (drained)
  • 1 14.5 oz can of black beans (rinsed and drained)
  • 1 14.5 oz can of chili beans
  • 1 14.5 oz cans of diced tomatoes (with juice)
  • 1 cup diced jarred jalapenos with 1/4 cup juice
  • 1 16 oz bottle of your favorite salsa (you choose the heat level)
  • 1 cups of tomato juice

Directions:

  • Measure and mix dry ingredients.
  • Brown grown beef with salt, pepper and half of seasoning mix.
  • Chop all vegetables uniformly and saute to soften.
  • Put all ingredients into one pot and simmer for 30-45 minutes.
