SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -- Residents at Whispering Creek Senior Living got a special performance from some local jazz musicians.
The East Middle School Jazz Band performed for residents at the retirement community Wednesday morning.
The performance not only helped the students practice in front of a live audience to prepare for upcoming competitions, and but also helped them maintain connections with community partners.
Officials at Whispering Creek's say performances like these are exciting for the residents outside of their normal entertainment.
"I think having the youth here creates an extra excitement for our residents outside of some of the normal entertainment that we have, so it's always good to see the old generation connected to the young generation," said Brittany Poss, Marketing Director.
Resident LaDonna Peters says she really enjoys having the students come and perform for them, as a mother of three and as a former school employee for many years.
"This kind of thing I really like, I worked at a school for many years and I know what it meant to the kids to be able to go out and perform in front of somebody else," said LaDonna Peters, Whispering Creek Retirement Resident.
The band also traveled to several other Morningside nursing home locations Wednesday to perform.
