SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) - A South Sioux City police officer is recognized for a milestone anniversary -- and he says it will be his last anniversary.
Lt. Chris Chernock was honored at Monday night's city council meeting in South Sioux City, for 40 years of service to the department.
Chernock joined the force right after serving in the military. He says, as much as he loves the job and the city, he's looking forward to some time off.
"I always say coming down off the bridge is like putting on an old shoe, you just…it just feels right. It's home. It's just a great town. You work towards a certain point, and this is the point. And um…there won't be a 41." said Lt. Chris Chernock, SSC Police Department.
Lt. Chernock says he plans on using his free time to do more with his family. His last day will be sometime this Summer.
