SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - An organization in Siouxland hosted their annual banquet on Saturday to fight against discrimination.

The NAACP, which stands for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, is an organization that fights for equality for all people.

The Sioux City branch of that organization hosted its annual Freedom Fund banquet on Saturday.

That banquet raises money for the organization to keep up the fight against discrimination.

This year's theme is "continuing the fight."

"We're always fighting for civil rights, we're always fighting for our protection of people and just our dignity," said Ike Rayford, NAACP President. "We have this banquet once a year and ironically we have it during black heritage month."

The keynote speaker at Saturday's event is Mayor Regan Banks from Manly, Iowa.

Mayor Banks is a Sioux City native and at the event told his life story and spoke on his life experiences.
