Fresh snow keeps us a little cooler Thursday despite sunshine

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

The snow ended yesterday evening with areas along the Highway 20 corridor picking up 3 to 6 inches and a quick drop in amounts as you moved north.

To the south, 1 to 3 inches fell.

The fresh snow, when combined with the clear skies we have had overnight, led to a very cold start this morning with temperatures for almost everyone falling below zero.

In fact, Sioux City tied a record low this morning by falling to -14!

Skies stay clear with lots of sunshine for our day.

Temperatures will stay a little cooler where more snow fell with highs near 20 degrees around Sioux City.

Elsewhere, you can add a few degrees onto those temperatures where less snow is on the ground.

We should to fall pretty quickly in the evening again but stabilize overnight in the upper single digits to mid teens.

Southerly flow really kicks in Friday, leading to highs near 40 degrees as winds increase to 15 to 25 mph.

We stay in the 40s this weekend with partly cloudy skies.

The only precipitation chances are Monday into Tuesday with a light rain and snow mix possible.

Temperatures do cool off next week though not to an unusual level for the end of February.
