Yankton enacts emergency ordinance to temporarily close businesses in the city

YANKTON, S.D. (KTIV) -- The city of Yankton South Dakota has enacted an emergency ordinance that goes into effect Thursday.

The ordinance will temporarily close or restrict many business operations in the city.

In a social media post, Yankton calls the measure unprecedented but asks that residents continue to support local businesses through this tough time,

The city also outlined what kind of businesses would be affected and how.

Businesses like barbershops and tanning salons are completely closed.

Bars and restaurants are partially open, still allowing delivery and carry out services.

Grocery stores, daycares, and hospitals will remain open.
