PIERRE, S.D. (KTIV) -- South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem announced the state is launching a new tool to help residents in the battle against the coronavirus.

The app "Care 19" uses location services to determine where you have traveled in the community.

This information helps the state's Department of Health know where you have been, or who you have been with, if you would be diagnosed with COVID-19.

Noem said the app is completely voluntary, users will remain anonymous and the data can be erased at any time.
