LAKE PARK, Iowa (KTIV) -- A fire has temporarily halted production at Northern Iowa Diecast in Lake Park.

Our news partner, KUOO news, reports Lake Park, Milford and Spirit Lake Fire Departments were called to the scene a little after 6 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Jeff Skalbeck, President of Northern Iowa Diecast, tells KUOO news the plant was evacuated and no one was hurt. He says the fire was in the plant's main production area.

Lake Park Fire Chief Brandon Ehret says a rooftop ventilation fan was the likely cause of a fire. Ehret says upon arriving they found smoke coming from one of five fan units on the roof.

About 100 people work at the facility. No production will take place at the plant for the rest of the week.

The plant provides aluminum and zinc die castings with full machining, finishing, powder coating, and assembly capabilities.
