City Council to discuss new airline for Sioux Gateway

Sioux Gateway Airport

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -- The Sioux City City Council is scheduled to discuss a proposal for a new, additional airline to operate from Sioux Gateway Airport at their upcoming meeting on Monday.

Currently the airport is only serviced by American Airlines with flights to Chicago and Dallas.

According to the agenda for the July 13 meeting, the proposal is with SkyWest Airlines Inc., branded as United Express, to provide one daily non-stop flight between Sioux City and Denver International Airport beginning in October.

The city council is being asked to approve a resolution authorizing the Airport Director to execute the Transportation Services Agreement.

If approved, the proposed agreement would be for a term from October 1, 2020, until February 28, 2022.

Monday's council meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
