SIOUX CITY, Iowa (SUBMITTED) - Sioux City Food Truck Fridays returns with a grab-and-go event around Pearl Street Park on Friday, July 31.
Food trucks from across the region will offer lunch to go. The event is 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday July 31, around Pearl Street Park, located at 7th and Pearl Streets downtown Sioux City. “People love Food Truck Fridays for the sense of community. We love this community, too. That’s why safety
is our top priority. We’re excited to be able to have some type of season,” said Sam Burrish, who volunteers to co-organize the event with David Brockshus. “The grab-and-go format is how we could make that possible.”
The event will include additional safety precautions, including trucks parked farther apart for social distancing in lines, masks/face coverings, and no additional seating or activities in the park as to discourage gatherings. Patrons are also encouraged to order for friends and co-workers and not attend as a group.
Now in its fifth season, Sioux City Food Truck Fridays has facilitated a growing food truck scene across Siouxland. This year has shown us the scene is resilient. Food trucks have innovated to find new spots, and ways of
reaching new and current fans. “We know there’s a huge sense of anticipation in having these trucks together at the same location,” Burrish
said. “Vendors and patrons have been understanding. We’ve been working to balance many factors to make this possible.”
The volunteer organizers connect partnerships and sponsors to make the event possible. This season is presented by Great Southern Bank, with support from Downtown Partners and the City of Sioux City.
Weekly menus will be posted to the Sioux City Food Truck Fridays Facebook page. A food truck map and safety guidelines are also on the Food Truck Fridays Facebook page.
