SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Several organizations teamed up to help the native community on Thursday morning.
Some of the organizations included Great Plains Action Society, Seeding Sovereignty, and the Community Action Agency.
The event was held to educate the native community about the Census, and the importance of wearing face masks during the pandemic.
Event goers received a backpack containing masks, face shields, hand sanitizer, and other educational brochures.
"The importance is that the community knows that there are agencies and organizations within the community to support the Siouxland community as a whole, but also the native community," said Valerie Uken, Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska Project Director.
Valerie Uken says more than 100 people attended the event.
