SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) - Tyson Foods, The Food Bank of Siouxland, and Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA teamed up to donate more than 40,000 pounds of meat from Tyson.

The nearly 160,000 meals were handed out to people free of charge this morning in the Y's parking lot in South Sioux City.

Several volunteers loaded up cars with boxes that held 32 pounds of the meat.

Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA's CEO Rhonda Robson says that she was grateful to be able to give back in these tough times.

"Businesses are still hurting and so there are still people who do not have jobs, so this was able to give somebody just a little bit of peace of mind that they could put food on the table for their family,"said Rhonda R. Robson, CEO of Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA.

The donation was completely fulfilled in a record amount of time in just under three hours.
