UPDATE: No injuries following North Sioux City apartment complex fire

NORTH SIOUX CITY, SD (KTIV) - No one was hurt following an apartment fire in North Sioux City, South Dakota, Monday morning.

Crews were called out to the Northport Apartments shortly before 9 a.m. Monday. Officials on scene say they believe the fire was started by lightning, but it still under investigation. Crews remain on scene, but the fire is out.

The fire caused extensive damage to one of three buildings at the apartments. Heavy flames could be seen coming from the roof.

Mutual aid was called from several departments, including Dakota Valley, Sergeant Bluff and Sioux City.

Officials tell KTIV all residents of the apartment complex have been evacuated and no injuries are being reported.

Firefighters were called to the scene shortly after 9 am.
