Hurricane Sally makes landfall early Wednesday morning

Hurricane Sally has made landfall as a Category 2 hurricane near Gulf Shores, Alabama.

The slow-moving storm had sustained winds of 105 miles per hour as it reached the shore at 4:45 AM.

Sally has been pounding the Mississippi, Alabama and Florida Gulf Coasts with heavy rain since early Tuesday.

It is expected to continue slowly moving north through the southeast Wednesday while weakening quickly.
