Shooting on 16th Street in Sioux City, Sept. 16

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -- Sioux City police are investigating shots fired in the 700 block of 16th Street.

Police at the scene say a male suspect got out of a vehicle and took two shots at two different houses before driving away. Both houses were occupied at the time of the shooting, but no one was injured.

There is no indication of a motive at this time.

Police have no description of the vehicle at this time. But officers have recovered a shell casing at the scene.

"The police department is thankful nobody was hurt. Hopefully we can find the perpetrators and lock them up. We've had significant gun violence and drive-by shootings so we're trying to put the people away that are perpetrating these crimes to make sure people feel safe in their community." said Sgt. Zach Lewis, Sioux City Police Department.

The incident happened shortly after 4:30 Wednesday afternoon.
