SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The Sioux City Police Department will host a city-wide town hall meeting tonight.
Due to COVID-19, the annual town hall meeting will be livestreamed on the Sioux City Police Departments Facebook page.
Officer Andrew Dutler says the town hall is a way for the department to communicate with the community.
They will be talking about crime statistics, and how the department will respond to those numbers through staffing. They will also talk about improving training within the department.
Dutler says it's important to build a strong relationship with the community that's built on trust and transparency.
"Anytime we respond to the call in folks neighborhoods, obviously we appreciate that collaboration because it helps us out in our investigations, but then also there is a reciprocal relationship between us and the public, and ultimately that's what our department wants to be about," said Officer Andrew Dutler, Sioux City Police Department.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. Thursday. Citizens will still be able to submit questions and concerns on that livestream.
