Former Musketeer head coach Varady gets NHL coaching job

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -- When the NHL season starts this week, former Sioux City Musketeers coach Jay Varady will have a new job. Varady will be an assistant coach for the Phoenix Coyotes.
In four seasons with the Muskies, Varady made three playoff trips and won 136 games. In 2017, Varady led Sioux City to the USHL Finals for the first time in over 30 years.
Varady spent the last two seasons as the head coach of the minor league Tucson Roadrunners in the American Hockey League. Phoenix opens the season Thursday, at home against San Jose.
