PONCA, Nebraska (KTIV) - A new health clinic is set to open in Dixon County in exactly one week from Monday.
The Sanford Vermillion Ponca Clinic in Ponca, Nebraska will officially be open for business Monday through Friday.
Tim Tracy, the Senior Director of Sanford Vermillion Medical Center said this has been in the works since last summer. He said there was a huge need for access to health care services in the Ponca community after their only clinic closed unexpectedly.
The clinic is expected to offer a variety of services including family medicine, pediatrics, radiology and lab services.
"Eventually we will be bringing down a surgeon periodically to do surgical consults, we have a sports medicine physician to assist with sports medicine and injuries, and we will provide some foot care, which are some things that aren't there now," said Tracy.
The clinic is located where an old clinic use to be, but they gave it a face-lift and it has new equipment. Tracy said the Ponca community is excited to have access to health care locally again.
"We continue to get feedback from folks about can't wait until we are open full time, they can't wait to get in to see us, I think they welcomed us with open arms," said Tracy.
Staff will include two doctors, and two physician assistants.
