SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - We saw another day of temperatures soaring into the 40s and 50s across Siouxland….a day of melting before accumulating of snow may begin again.
Changes will arrive tonight as the wind becomes gusty after 10 pm in Holt County and around 1 am in Sioux City.
That wind has prompted High Wind Warnings for most of Siouxland tonight through Friday.
Along with that wind, an area of light rain will develop and that will turn to a mix of light rain and snow later in the night and into early Thursday morning.
The first round of precipitation will move to the east before some light snow may redevelop in the afternoon and evening, especially in eastern Siouxland.
Highs on Thursday will be in the upper 30s.
Snow then overspreads the area Thursday night and Friday and when you combine that wind with the snow the visibility could become a real issue for many of us.
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for most of Siouxland Thursday night through Friday for that combination of snow and wind and possible blizzard-like conditions.
It does look like northeastern Siouxland has the best chance of seeing the heaviest of accumulation with over 4 inches possible for places like Estherville and Emmetsburg.
Far western Siouxland will likely see less than an inch with a range of 1 to 4 inches for the rest of the KTIV viewing area.
I'll have more on this next storm system on News 4 at 5, 6, and 10.
